Architecture
Civic services
Regina has been practicing architecture and spatial design for over twenty years. In that time, she has worked on a variety of typologies in many different roles. Her knowledge and her skills are hard earnt with hands on experience and keeping up to date with latest research and movements.
-
Regina has six years experience in Design and Project Management roles on major public projects in Victoria and in private commercial teams in Queensland. In these roles she managed: creation of briefs and defining scope; consultant engagement and coordination; writing and implementation of programs; value management; risk assessments; quality management, leading teams and package delivery. She also puts a lot of emphasis in building and maintaining good relationships between everyone in the project to make the experience positive and fulfilling for all involved.
Regina puts in the same effort and care into projects regardless of size because she wants to help achieve best outcomes for the client and for the civic space. She sees
-
Regina has refined her leadership skills over the last six years by leading both projects, and her own internal teams. She believes that the success of the team and the project is dependant on great leadership.
Let’s get clear about what success means to her:
1. a team that enjoyed the whole process, felt like they contributed meaningfully and are proud of what they have achieved together.
2. a project that has addressed all client and stakeholder needs, is within budget and delivered on time, is inclusive, functional and has longevity and enhances the end users activities within the space and has positive civic outcome. -
In large complex projects she’s worked on, Regina has been part of large design teams - both as a leader and as a cooperative team player. She understands that each person is there for their specialist knowledge, respecting everyone’s input and committed to reaching outcomes that satisfy all requirements.
-
Trust within teams and between clients, designers, builders and end users is what achieves great outcomes. This is a key belief of Regina’s and something she is focused on throughout. She does this with: consistent communication; transparency; listening; valuing everyone’s strengths and experience to solve problems together and; adjusting information to be easily understood by the audience it is targeted towards.
Good relationships are what make a project rewarding and enjoyable to work on. We think the energy during the design and building carries through to the final object and so we try keep it positive and joyful.
-
Regina’s philosophy is that the building or space is ultimately to be for the end users and this is how we approach the design. She thinks about how the place will be experienced and lets the concept take shape from there: views, breezes, approaches, atmosphere, lighting, textures, comfort, intuitive wayfinding. She then refines the initial ideas to make sure they are functional and accessible by all.
Inclusive design is important to Her and she includes its consideration early on in the project to make it seamlessly part of the design.
-
Regina prides ourselves on quality documentation standards. The drawings a a vital communication tool and should be easy and uncomplicated to read. With an artist’s background she also thinks they should be beautiful within themselves.
Regina takes into account the information that is important to convey and how. If she has access to the builder early on, she will cross check with them as to how they prefer to read information and accommodate.
-
In keeping with her value ‘doing things right’, Regina will think about all aspects of the building from the client needs, the users experience, buildability, sustainability, safety and operations and maintenance.
Having worked on major projects that will remain the client’s assets for many years, she understand the impact of simplified and safe maintenance on the clients operational costs and longevity of the building. She understands how the comfort of the environment and perceived safety will affect usability and life of the space.Regina will work closely with the client and stakeholders to figure out the full Lifecyle of the building and discover needs that aren’t spelled out in the brief to help achieve an outcome that is lasting and fulfills it’s purpose.
